Hand Hammered in Bali and blessed by my dear friend and Balinese Priest, Ketut.
I arrived in #Bali in February of 2020 with the initial plan of staying for up to six months. The original intention was to surrender to the process of letting go of more, and of learning beautiful modalities that would aid me in guiding others on their experiences in retreats with plant medicine. I wanted to start leading people to Peru in 2020, but the world had other plans that I was consistently and constantly adjusting to. What started as 6 months turned into 11 months, and what began as just a planned 400 hours of Certified Studies turned into 900 Hours of Certifications.
I attended a level I, II & III Kinesiology class with two dear friends I had made while attending a week long intensive in #SoundHealing with #ShervinBoolarian who guides Sound Sessions at the #YogaBarn in Bali. #Kinesiology is the scientific study of human body movement, and addresses Physiological, Anatomical, Biomechanical and Neurosychological Prinsiples and Mechanisms of Movement.
As I was walking out of the Kinesiology class on the first day, my dear friend Kendall tapped the side of this beautiful hand hammered Tibetan Style Sound Bowl. The vibration rippled through me and I felt my spidey senses go off (goosebumps) and I leaned back in and toward this tiny bowl, and I looked at Kendall with a "WOW, what was that?" look. I can only describe the feeling as a deep intensity and desire to learn about these instruments and the profound feeling that just physically traveled through me.
Ultimately I completed three levels of training at #LightSpiritBali. This is a school for Tibetan Sound Therapy and vibrational medicine which is run by Patrizius, who is responsible for the teachings and treatments and who has an academic degree in psychology and a degree in alternative medicine. Over the last two decades of experience he has developed a unique way to apply sound and vibrational treatments, and he has treated thousands of clients and trained hundreds of students.

I had anticipated level four training with the Tibetan Sound Bowls. The requirement was to complete twenty individual sessions, and I was so keen on doing this that I began right away. Within the first ten days I had twenty people accept a ninety-minute session with me free of charge. Then I brainstormed an incredible plan: Since I did not have a Work Visa for Bali, (that cost around $1,800.00 US at the time,) and times were extremely hard with Covid for everyone, especially the locals; I decided to offer the Sound Sessions on an exchange.
For two hours of a private session guests had to bring a box of food with a minimum of rice, eggs and oil. At the end of the session a family would show up at the Villa door and we would hand them this box of delicious food for their family. This was reciprocity in full swing. I did an additional thirty sessions that had beautiful boxes of nourishment as payment for their sessions, which far exceeded the requirements for Level Four Training. However, a minimum of two students were required for each class, and with limited people due to Covid: no one else was ready. That was ok, though: Patrizius told me that he had never had a student go so in depth so quickly. I am forever grateful for his teachings and his friendship, and I hope to get to that Level IIII someday soon.

I completed regular treatments on a dear new friend, Michael. I met him as he was struggling with a Stage 4 Glioblastoma Brain Tumor. The first time I did the sound bowl session on him, I knew that his life was to be a short span, as he had already told me that he was on borrowed time. He recently passed away in 2022, after spending amazing and precious time with his children and close friends. The sound bowls alone did not extend his life. The sound sessions helped to soothe the physical body and the outward emotional symptoms. He is missed by so many. He pushed me by encouraging me to buy a sound bowl table that still lives in Bali being babysat by my dear friend Cate. Someday, I will be back. At this rate though, who knows when? What a ride.
Forever grateful. Thank you to my wonderful Sound Bowl & Kinesiology teacher, Patrizius. Thank you to those who trusted me to be in service. Thank you to Michael for pushing me: rest in peace, you sassy and wonderful human. Thank you to Kendall and Cate for introducing me to Patrizius and to all of the friends I made while living abroad in Bali. I miss you every day, I really do.
